Geoff Gurd was born into a musical family – his father was a keen amateur conductor and both his brothers played the piano. His first instrument was on the violin but he took up the guitar when his violin teacher used a metal ruler to teach him 2nd position!
His first professional experience as a musician was in Paris. He then played in various bands around the UK and Europe before learning engineering and production skills.
Geoff has enjoyed success both as a record producer and songwriter, having written the US number one R&B ballad “Love Is A House” for the Force MDs and Dina Carroll’s smash UK hit “Don’t Be A Stranger”.
Victoria Hart and Geoff met in summer 2004 and formed an instant bond. Geoff now writes and records with her and also acts as her bandleader. It’s a busy life! In his rare leisure moments he retreats to the Swiss alps, where he has a mountain chalet complete with underground recording facility.
Victoria, Geoff and Kerenza Peacock spent a year researching ”The Lost Gershwin”, travelling to New York and the Library of Congress in Washington DC to unearth rare Gershwin manuscripts.
